This article inquires about the five (5) first prizes of the architecture competition for the new building of the Unión Industrial Argentina (UIA), held in Argentina in 1968. Within the framework of the developmetalism ideology, during post- war period, there was an architecture competition boom, primarily promoted by the State, but also by the private area. In this way, we consider the competition practice, and the increase in its use in the 1960s, as a vehicle that indicates and generates innovation, rupture and transformation in the ways of space production, and later, verified the opposition of an old and a new way of making architecture. Through the interpretation and micro analysis of the awarded projects, we address the visual documents as primary sources that, on one side, act as representations of the architecture culture as symbolic and material culture within an specific context, and on the other hand, they enable a multiplicity of readings that allow to verify the displacement in the ways of production of the disciplinary space. El presente artículo indaga los cinco (5) primeros premios del concurso de arquitectura para la nueva sede de la Unión Industrial Argentina (UIA) realizado en 1968 en la Argentina. En el marco del ideario desarrollista en plena época de posguerra, se dio un auge de los concursos de proyectos promovidos principalmente desde el Estado pero también por el sector privado. En este sentido, consideramos la práctica del concurso y el aumento de su uso en la década de 1960 como un vehículo que muestra y genera la innovación, ruptura y transformación de los modos de producción del espacio y que, a fortiori, verificó la oposición entre un antiguo y un nuevo modo de hacer arquitectura. Por medio de la interpretación y el micro-análisis de los proyectos premiados, abordamos los documentos visuales como fuentes primarias que, por un lado, ofician de representaciones de la cultura arquitectónica en tanto cultura material y simbólica de un contexto específico y, por el otro, posibilitan una multiplicidad de lecturas que permiten verificar el desplazamiento en los modos de producción del espacio disciplinar.
