The study is based on the premise that these dimensions, far from operating independently, intersect to shape socio-environmentally segregated territories. Methodologically, the analysis relies on intensive use of data at the census tract level from the National Population and Housing Census of 2010, as well as other sources that offer environmental information (for example: layer of green spaces offered by the geoservice of the National Geographic Institute and green index available in the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development). In particular, to explore the link between the socioeconomic and environmental dimensions, the Pearson correlation coefficient is calculated, followed by a Principal Component Analysis. Lastly, thematic maps are created to reveal the spatial distribution of social groups and environmental risks, identifying certain areas in which disadvantages accumulate, further widening the social gap. El presente artículo analiza la relación entre nivel socioeconómico y dimensión ambiental en Neuquén, una ciudad intermedia localizada en la Norpatagonia argentina. Se parte de la idea que ambas dimensiones, lejos de operar de forma aislada, actúan de modo intersectado, configurando territorios socioambientamente segregados. En términos metodológicos, el texto se sostiene en el aprovechamiento intensivo de la información a nivel de radio correspondiente al Censo Nacional de Población y Viviendas del año 2010, así como de otras fuentes que ofrecen una aproximación a lo ambiental (por caso: capa de espacios verdes ofrecida por geoservicio del Instituto Geográfico Nacional e índice verde disponible en el Ministerio de Ambiente y Desarrollo Sostenible). En particular, y para dar cuenta del vínculo entre las dimensiones socioeconómica y ambiental, se calcula, en primera instancia, el coeficiente de correlación de Pearson y, adicionalmente, se desarrolla un Análisis de Componentes Principales. Finalmente, se elaboran cartografías temáticas que revelan la distribución espacial de los grupos sociales y de los riesgos ambientales, identificando determinadas áreas en las que se acumulan desventajas que no hacen más que extender la brecha social.
