Within this context, the internationalization of university extension is an essential tool to achieve this purpose. This exploratory and qualitative study aims to understand the progress of the strategic process of institutional internationalization in the Extension and Outreach area of the University of Chile during its years of implementation, from 2015 to 2022. Its purpose is to understand how it has contributed to the development of the international dimension of university extension and what are the challenges and opportunities of its internationalization. The qualitative methodology used in this research is based on content analysis from information obtained from official institutional documents and interviews (anonymous) with qualified expert informants, both from the internationalization and extension areas. En el mundo actual, es imperativo que las instituciones de educación superior desarrollen estrategias de internacionalización para responder a los desafíos globales. Dentro de este contexto, la internacionalización de la extensión universitaria constituye una herramienta esencial para lograr este propósito, en clave de integración y cooperación regional. El presente estudio de caso comprende el avance del proceso estratégico de internacionalización institucional en la Extensión y Vinculación con el Medio de la Universidad de Chile desde el 2015 hasta el 2022. Su propósito es comprender cómo este ha contribuido a desarrollar la dimensión internacional de la extensión universitaria y cuáles son los desafíos y oportunidades de su internacionalización. La metodología cualitativa empleada en esta investigación se basa en el análisis de contenido a partir de la información obtenida de documentos institucionales oficiales y entrevistas (anónimas) con informantes expertos calificados, tanto del área de internacionalización como del área de extensión.
