The absence of their leader led to a greater margin of autonomy for the provincial leaders, which generated a series of confrontations over intra-party leadership. With the intention of putting an end to these disputes, by mid-1963 Perón ordered the reorganization of the Peronist movement, constituting the Justicialista Party (PJ) as its only authorized political voice. For this, he ordered the creation of a National Intervention Commission, and its provincial counterparts, whose objective was the designation of party authorities through internal elections. In Santiago del Estero, they featured Abraham Abdulajad and Carlos Arturo Juárez, who faced each other in the elections of July 5, 1964, which was an unprecedented event in the province as they were two former Peronist governors. The general objective is to understand and analyze how the disputeover party leadership between Abdulajad and Juárez occurred during the reorganization stage of Peronism in Santiago in 1964.
