He affirms that contemporary letters are affected by the "Bartleby syndrome": a "disease" that causes the disappearance of the text and the writer. Marcelo's notes containhis reflections on literature: the author's view is positive, since he maintains that literature has the possibility of redemption. En nuestro trabajo analizaremos algunos aspectos de la escritura del narrador de Bartleby y compañía (2000) de Enrique Vila-Matas (1948). Marcelo es jorobado y solitario, y escribe un “diario” muy particular. El autor relaciona el cuerpo del narrador con los problemas de la literatura en el fin de siglo. Afirma que las letras contemporáneas se ven afectadas por el “síndrome de Bartleby”: una “enfermedad” que provoca la desaparición del texto y el escritor. En los apuntes de Marcelo se hallan sus reflexiones sobre la literatura: la mirada del autor es positiva, pues sostiene que la literatura tiene posibilidad de redención.
