The study examines preferences for reading materials on screens versus accessing materials in print during periods of stricter lockdown measures, and explores how these preferences are influenced by students' social and digital inequalities. The findings highlight that reading materials on screens can pose a potential barrier to higher education for some students, exacerbating existing disparities in access to education. Este artículo analiza las formas de acceso al material de estudio durante el período de clases virtuales instauradas a partir de la pandemia por Covid-19 en los estudiantes de Comunicación de la Universidad de Buenos Aires y la Universidad General Sarmiento. Las preferencias en relación a la lectura a través de pantallas, la posibilidad de acceder al material en papel en los períodos de mayor confinamiento, son dimensiones analizadas en relación a las desigualdades sociales y digitales de los estudiantes. Leer a través de pantallas para algunos puede significar una nueva barrera a la educación superior, que incrementa desigualdades existentes previas.
