The Analysis allowed us to understand that, facing different circumstances, between the idea of a state proximity approach and the ‘expert’ legitimation, different government actors built the assistance as a specific state domain action. Based on the bibliographic review on the subject and an own thesis on the profiles and trajectories of Cambiemos officials at the national level, we study what happened along different historical moments by searching for traces and management styles that were the key for a fully understanding of the tension that faces the Argentinian government in this specific state area. En este artículo realizamos una sociohistoria de la asistencia estatal argentina del nivel nacional abordando los desafíos de gestión que enfrentó el área, las disputas que protagonizaron distintos actores por imponer un enfoque de intervención socio-asistencial y el tipo de legitimidad que construyeron las elites que condujeron la cartera. El análisis realizado nos permitió comprender que, frente a coyunturas diversas, entre la pretensión de construir proximidad estatal y la legitimación “experta”, distintos elencos gubernamentales constituyeron a la asistencia como un dominio específico de acción estatal. A partir de la revisión bibliográfica sobre el tema y de una tesis propia sobre los perfiles y las trayectorias de los funcionarios de Cambiemos en el nivel nacional, estudiamos lo que sucedió en distintos momentos de la historia rastreando hitos y estilos de gestión claves en la comprensión de las tensiones que atraviesa el gobierno de esta área estatal en el caso argentino.
