Sumario:The temperature dependence of the gluon condensate is deduced from the Polyakov loop effective potential. It is shown that this approach provides a simple picture for the electric gluon condensate around the deconfinement temperature, showing that it drops to zero in a temperature range which is in good agreement with different pure gauge lattice results.
