For this reason, such a transition was said "from the top," or "pactueted." Nevertheless, the constitutional-making process of 1987-88 escaped to the control of the political block denominated Democratic Alliance, that also wanted a reconstitutionalization from the top, by means of a Constituent Congress. Coalitions between popular movements and dissidents of the PMDB, along with leftist parties, gave the constitutional document its progressive and socially advanced nature and profile. Existe un consenso entre los académicos de que la transición política brasileña se caracterizó por un alto grado de control de las fuerzas políticas del régimen autoritario en su camino hacia la democracia. Por esta razón, dicha transición se dijo "desde arriba" o "pactuada". Sin embargo, el proceso constitucional de 1987-88 escapó al control del bloque político denominado Alianza Democrática, que también quería una reconstitucionalización desde arriba, a través de un Congreso Constituyente. Las coaliciones entre los movimientos populares y los disidentes del PMDB, junto con los partidos de izquierda, dieron al documento constitucional una naturaleza y un perfil progresivo y socialmente avanzado. Existe um consenso entre os estudiosos de que a transição política brasileira foi caracterizada por um alto grau de controle das forças políticas do regime autoritário em seu caminho para a democracia. Por essa razão, a referida transição foi dita "de cima" ou "acordada". No entanto, o processo constitucional de 1987-88 escapou ao controle do bloco político chamado Aliança Democrática, que também queria uma reconstitucionalização a partir de cima, através de um Congresso Constituinte. As coalizões entre os movimentos populares e os dissidentes do PMDB, juntamente com os partidos de esquerda, deram ao documento constitucional uma natureza e um perfil progressistas e socialmente avançados.
