Itis considered that these were the result of negotiation betweenlaws and the concrete exercise of its authority in relation to thecouncil, cabildo, to achieve consensus rather than a conflictivecompetition. Este trabajo se ocupa de un agente clave a nivel local enla relación entre el monarca hispano y las ciudades americanas bajola ley del rey de España: el subdelegado. Se trata de una figura pocoestudiada por la historiografía en general.El propósito de este trabajo es precisar las competencias y atributosdel subdelegado desplegadas a partir del caso de San Miguel deTucumán. Los atributos y competencias que ejerció el subdelegadoen este caso fueron resultado de la negociación entre lo quedisponía la normativa y el ejercicio concreto de su autoridad enrelación con el cabildo en procura de lograr acuerdos antes que unacompetencia conflictiva por el poder.
