Although finally the Code was not sanctioned, this paperanalyzes the role and functions that were assigned to the provincialState to apply and monitor its compliance. It also studies its maincharacteristics, comparing it with other official sources that allowus to account for its itinerary. But fundamentally it intends toanalyze the ways that were thought there to benefit the ruralworker, many of which were opposed to the regulations in forceprior to 1940.   En la primera mitad de la década de 1930 el gobiernode la provincia de Buenos Aires presentó un proyecto de Códigolaboral con el objetivo de unificar el derecho obrero. Su realizaciónhabía sido solicitada por el gobernador Federico Martínez deHoz en 1932 al Departamento del Trabajo de la Provincia(DPT). Aunque finalmente el Código no se sancionó, este artículoanaliza el rol y las funciones que se le adjudicaban al Estadoprovincial para aplicar y vigilar su cumplimiento; también estudialas principales características del mismo, comparándolo con otrasfuentes oficiales que permiten dar cuenta de su itinerario. Perofundamentalmente pretende analizar las vías que allí se pensaronpara beneficiar al obrero rural, muchas de las cuales se oponían a lanormativa vigente anterior a 1940.
