En el escenario Brasil post-1964, montajes y temas diferenciados desafiaban la rígida censura. En Dr. Getúlio, de Ferreira Gullar y Dias Gomes, de 1968, y O último carro (El último carro), de João das Neves, de 1977, se mezclan música, dramaturgia comprometida y puesta en escena. Al tratar de lograr el binomio arte-compromiso político, dramaturgos y directores traen al escenario una escuela de samba y un tren de cercanías.
