It goes through the personal and intellectual biography, which involve from the characteristics of his birth home to the problems that concerned him in his last writings, passing by his education in the Colegio Nacional de Buenos Aires, his early interest for militancy, his also early incursion in the historic dissemination, his extensive editorial work, his apprenticeship in the Universidad de Buenos Aires, the conforming of his research agendas and his exiles. El trabajo explora en diferentes tramos de la vida de Juan Carlos Garavaglia las claves que permitan componer una explicación de la originalidad de su obra. Transita por la biografía personal e intelectual, lo cual conduce de las características de su hogar natal hasta los problemas que le interesaban en sus últimos escritos, pasando por su formación en el Colegio Nacional de Buenos Aires, su temprano interés por la militancia, su precoz incursión en la divulgación histórica, su dilatada labor en el mundo editorial, su formación en la Universidad de Buenos Aires, la formación de sus agendas de investigación y sus exilios.
