This has been carried out by giving especial emphasis to these events in the city of Buenos Aires since it is were most of the union worker organizations and political epicenter of the country reside. Therefore, this perspective has resulted in disregarding experiences taking place in small towns or involving non-hegemonic working-class factions. In such cases, the concept of “hegemony” is usually referring exclusively to a national political-organizational dimension. Through a chronicle about the strike movement in 1932, we have looked into the singularities that the experiences of organization and working-class struggle presented in the port cities of the southeast of Buenos Aires. Furthermore, we have revised some of today’s historiographical “common sense” regarding political left and working class studies during the interwar period. Our documentary corpus is composed by news published by commercial, union and political publications. We also made use of institutional reports and official statistics from that time. La historiografía obrera argentina se ha ocupado de historiar el acontecer obrero en zonas centrales de nuestro país como las provincias del litoral y de la región pampeana, con particular énfasis en lo ocurrido en la ciudad de Buenos Aires, por ser sede de las organizaciones madre del conglomerado sindical argentino y por ser el epicentro político del país. De esta forma una mirada que cultivó el apego a lo importante y central terminó por invisibilizar experiencias situadas en el pago chico y en fracciones obreras no hegemónicas. En el camino de reponer estos olvidos historiográficos, en este artículo proponemos, por medio de una crónica sobre el movimiento huelguístico de 1932 escrutamos las particularidades que en aquel contexto presentaron las experiencias de organización y lucha obrera en una de las ciudades portuarias del sudeste bonaerense. Asimismo, a la luz de esta crónica revisamos algunos de los rasgos del sentido común historiográfico aún hoy imperante en el abordaje de la izquierda y el mundo obrero durante el período de entreguerras. Nuestro acervo documental está compuesto por las notas informativas publicadas por periódicos comerciales, gremiales y políticos. También utilizamos memorias institucionales y estadísticas oficiales de la época.
