As they travelled worldwide, local authoritarian dictatorships established moral censorship upon mass entertainment products. This article examines their international circulation across different continents. It is mainly concerned with historical conditions involved in the process, the connections and strategies employed to circulate, and the cultural and aesthetic effects on erotic visuality. This study explores the interplay of national and transnational processes using various sources, including newspapers and magazines, films, interviews, photographs, memoirs and autobiographical texts. By spreading globally, Argentinian erotic cinema negotiated its place within the country and its relationship to national culture.
