His unexpected death caused his family to lose the economic income from the musician's exhausting tours and performances. In response to this situation, a committee was set in motion and a national and international collection was organized to buy a house for the artist's widow and children. In this fundraising effort, a network of solidarity was expressed, involving individuals and bank institutions, cultural and social sectors, among others, all of them belonging to the Yiddish-speaking Jewish community. By inscribing the figure of Jevel Katz in the world of labor and focusing on the precariousness that characterized his working conditions, this article investigates the solidarity ties existing within the Argentine Jewish community. In order to achieve this objective, we will analyze the Jevel Katz personal archive located at the IWO Foundation, the written editorials of the radio program “La Matiné Hebrea”, hosted by Samuel Glasserman, as well as press publications. Este trabajo analiza los cruces entre el mundo del trabajo, el mercado de entretenimiento y las redes de solidaridad en el interior de la comunidad judía argentina, durante el periodo de entreguerras, a partir de la muerte del artista y parodista Jevel Katz. Su inesperado deceso implicó que su familia dejara de contar con los ingresos económicos provenientes de las extenuantes giras y presentaciones del músico. En respuesta a esta situación, se puso en movimiento un comité que organizó una colecta a nivel nacional e internacional con la finalidad de comprarle una casa a la viuda e hijos del artista. En dicha colecta se expresó una red de solidaridad que atravesó a individuos e instituciones bancarias, culturales y sociales, entre otras, todas ellas inscriptas en la comunidad judía hablante de ídish. Al inscribir a la figura de Jevel Katz en el mundo del trabajo y poner el foco en la precariedad que caracterizó sus condiciones laborales, este artículo indaga los lazos de solidaridad existentes en el interior de la comunidad judía argentina. Para lograr este objetivo, se analizará el archivo personal Jevel Katz ubicado en la Fundación IWO, las editoriales escritas del programa de radio “La Matiné Hebrea”, conducido por Samuel Glasserman, así como publicaciones de prensa.
