In this way, the need to overcome the logic of power and the ways of interpreting international politics from their own theoretical routes is raised. This is how the logocentrism of International Relations, in a presentist and state-centric key, is revisited, from the Periphery, to build, in dialogue with history, new theoretical approaches. In this context, Peripheral Realism, a theory of International Relations developed by Carlos Escudé, emerged in the 1990s from Argentina. The question to ask is what is the importance assigned to history in the explanation of International Relations, taking into account that, from its realistic reading, the immutability of the international system in terms of power relations, the imperative that the Periphery accept its rules inpursuit of its international insertion and the trajectories of humanity under the assumptions of power. A partir de la segunda mitad del siglo XX, América Latina participa, desde el campo teórico, en la revisión de los modos de interpretar el sistema internacional, fuertemente influida por su condición de periférica en un sistema internacional signado históricamente por las políticas de poder de los “grandes” actores internacionales y las fuerzas diversas que los atraviesan. Se plantea, de este modo, la necesidad de superar las lógicas del poder y los modos de interpretar la política internacional desde sus propias rutas teóricas. Es así como el logocentrismo de las Relaciones Internacionales, en clave presentista y estatocéntrica, es revisitado, desde la Periferia, para construir, en diálogo con la historia, nuevos enfoques teóricos. En ese contexto, surge en la década del ‘90 desde la Argentina, el Realismo Periférico, una teoría de Relaciones Internacionales elaborada por Carlos Escudé.
