The Schinopsis balansae forests in the southernmost area of the Cuña Boscosa in Santa Fe, develop in two different geomorphologic and edaphic zones: the Vera Plain Area and the Belt with Reconquista Relief. Due to soil differences, land use differs between zones with different consequences for survival of Schinopsis populations. A polygon including equal surface areas of both zones was established, where landscape pattern attributes and Schinopsis populations variables were quantified. Trees with diameter at breast heigth larger than 10 cm and their sexual expression were recorded. The surface area with natural forest cover, patch size, percentage of occupation, and total and mean patch perimeters were much larger in the Vera Plain Area. The number of patches and their perimeter: area ratio were higher in the Belt with Reconquista Relief, where the cultivated area is almost seven times larger than in the Vera Plain Area. In both areas, there were fewer trees in the lower diameter class than in the successional class, suggesting population decrease. During the 3-year research period, 30,4% of females and 7,6% of males flowered, while no flowering occurred in 62% of the individuals. In the Belt with Reconquista Relief there are few individuals of low diametric class but many individuals of higher diametric classes, indicating population ageing. Since S. balansae is a heliophyte species, regeneration within the forests is limited. While in the Vera Plain Area it might have the role of pioneer in undisturbed areas, in the Belt with Reconquista Relief, without available areas for colonization processes, the populations fate is uncertain. |

En la porción sur de la Cuña Boscosa santafesina se delimitó un polígono que incluye dos zonas geomorfológica y edáficamente distintas: el Área Plana de Vera (APV) y la Faja con Relieve Reconquista (FRR). Se realizaron análisis de coberturas de suelo y estudios poblacionales del quebracho colorado. Se seleccionaron cinco quebrachales por zona estableciendo 2 parcelas de 10m * 50m por quebrachal. Se registraron todos los quebrachos con diámetro altura de pecho (DAP) mayor a 10 cm y su expresión sexual. La superficie con cobertura forestal natural, el tamaño de parche, el porcentaje de ocupación, los perímetros total y medio del parche fueron mucho mayores en el APV. El número de parches y su relación perímetro/área fueron mayores en la FRR cuya superficie agriculturizada es casi siete veces mayor. Durante 3 años de estudio florecieron 30,4% de pies femeninos y un 7,6% de pies masculinos: 62 % de los individuos no florecieron. El desvío de las proporciones de sexo hacia los pies femeninos probablemente sea debido al uso. La clase diamétrica menor, presenta menos individuos que la clase sucesiva, sugiriendo una merma poblacional. En la FRR hay pocos individuos de clases diamétricas bajas y más individuos de clases diamétricas altas, indicando envejecimiento de dichas poblaciones. Como especie heliófila su regeneración dentro de los bosques está limitada. Aunque en el APV ocuparía el rol de especie pionera, en áreas no intervenidas, en la FRR, sin área disponible para estos procesos el destino de sus poblaciones es incierto. Os quebrachais da porção sul da Cuña Boscosa de Santa Fe desenvolvem-se em duas zonas geomorfológicas e edáficas diferentes: a Área Plana de Vera e a Faixa com Relevo de Reconquista que devido a diferenças na qualidade dos solos estão sujeitas a diferentes usos com consequências diferenciais para a sobrevivência do quebracho-vermelho. Um polígono compreendendo equitativamente ambas as zonas foi delimitado, onde foram quantificados atributos do padrão de paisagem e variáveis populacionais. Registraram-se os indivíduos com diâmetro à altura do peito superior a 10 cm e sua expressão sexual. A superfície com cobertura florestal natural, o tamanho das manchas (patches), a porcentagem de ocupação e os perímetros total e médio da mancha foram muito maiores na Área Plana de Vera. O número de manchas e sua relação perímetro/área foram maiores na Faixa com Relevo Reconquista, cuja superfície agricultada é quase sete vezes maior. Para ambas as zonas, a classe de diâmetro menor apresenta menos indivíduos do que a classe sucessiva, o que sugere uma redução populacional e durante 3 anos de estudo floresceram 30,4% de pés femininos e 7,6% de pés masculinos: 62% dos indivíduos não floresceram. Na Faixa com Relevo Reconquista, predominam indivíduos de classes de diâmetro alto, indicando um envelhecimento dessas populações. Como espécie heliófila, sua regeneração nas matas é limitada: nas áreas não intervindas da Área Plana de Vera ocuparia o papel de pioneira, enquanto, na Faixa com Relevo Reconquista, sem área disponível para esses processos, o destino de suas populações é incerto.
