I15-R222-article-3772023-06-28T12:22:12Z Being “Nanny”: : Between the submission and affection of the family I attend. Work Paid domestic work The following text is based on the analysis of paid domestic work and the conditions in which women carry out this type of work in a context of exclusion and subjugation, but which, at the same time, makes them believe that they are a relevant part of the spaces where they carry out their work: the homes of the others, of the employers. Methodologically, for this paper, the hegemonic logics with which the original research was carried out were rethought in order to subvert the analysis with an approach of situated and sentimentalised knowledge, which leads us to take a general look at paid domestic work, and then to encounter the unknown dimension of this type of work. We will briefly go through the logics of the coloniality of power and how it becomes visible in the work trajectories of these women and their relationship with the family they care for. Shared meanings of the workers about affective-labour relations are presented, which reveal the hegemonic logics and conditions of subalternity of paid domestic workers.
