The study aimedto describe and understand the working ways of mental health professionals, the interventions and practices carried out in the chosen institution. It involved different actors, who allowed to give visibility to the heterogeneity of perspectives on the implementation of current regulations in the processes of care for mental health problems. Different methods of data preparation and analysis were implemented. The data analysis showed a process of progress and changes regarding the inclusion and accommodation in the hospitalizations of mental health patients conditions in the general hospital, but also the emergence of tensions as a result of the persistence of certain exclusionary and madhouse logics. El presente artículo se propone visibilizar el entrecruzamiento de las propuestas enunciadas en la Ley Nacional de Salud Mental y Adicciones (2010) con situaciones singulares de las prácticas clínicas, indagando las posibilidades y dificultades para implementar los lineamientos establecidos en las normativas nacional y provincial en un hospital de mediana complejidad de la provincia de Santa Fe, en el periodo comprendido entre 2015–2016. El estudio pretendió describir y comprender el modo de trabajo de los profesionales de salud mental, las intervenciones y las prácticas realizadas en la institución escogida. Comprendió a un conjunto de actores, que permitieron dar visibilidad a la heterogeneidad de perspectivas sobre la implementación de las normativas vigentes en los procesos de cuidado de las problemáticas de salud mental. Se implementaron distintas modalidades de elaboración y análisis de los datos. En el análisis de los datos se registró un proceso de avances y de cambios respecto a la inclusión y alojamientos en las internaciones de pacientes afectados por padecimientos de salud mental en el hospital general, pero también la emergencia de tensiones resultado de la persistencia de ciertas lógicas excluyentes y manicomiales.
