The Spanish conquest did not mean the total abandonment of the site of Pachacamac, as it continued to be a sanctuary and pilgrimage center although there was a change that is documented in the registrymaterial recovered in our excavations in different buildings.This article focuses on the investigations of the Museo Pachacamac team and addresses the state of the art of early colony archeology at the site and an analysis of recent findings and a debate on its long-standing occupation and sacredness.

Pachacamac fue una de las principales y más respetadas deidades del antiguo Perú; su poder se expresaba en la convocatoria a peregrinos, que concurrían a su espacio sagrado a gestionar sus súplicas. El santuario de Pachacamac está ubicado frente al litoral del Océano Pacífico, en el departamento de Lima-Perú; en el conjunto de sus estructuras monumentales destacan, entre otros, el Templo Viejo, el Templo Pintado y el Templo del Sol. La conquista española no significó el abandono total del sitio de Pachacamac, pues continuó siendo un santuario y centro de peregrinación aunque se produjo un cambio que se documenta en el registro material recuperado en nuestras excavaciones en diferentes edificios. Este artículo se centra en las investigaciones del equipo del Museo Pachacamac y aborda el estado de la cuestión de la arqueología de la temprana colonia en el sitio y un análisis de los hallazgos recientes y un debate sobre su largo tiempo de continuidad en su ocupación y sacralidad. Pachacamac foi uma das principais e mais respeitadas divindades do antigo Peru; seu poder foi expressona chamada aos peregrinos, que compareciam ao seu espaço sagrado para gerir as suas súplicas. o Santuáriode Pachacamac está localizada em frente à costa do Oceano Pacífico, no departamento de Lima-Peru; noo conjunto de suas estruturas monumentais inclui, entre outros, o Templo Velho, o Templo Pintado e o Templo do Sol.
