description	The historic center of the town of Payogasta (Cachi, province of Salta), located near the right bank of the Calchaquí River, was the center of social and economic activities during the 19th and 20th centuries, before the construction of the route Nacional Nº 40. It is a set of constructions, with a variable degree of conservation, characterized by a typical colonial and post-colonial architecture, among which is a hydraulic mill and an old mansion, located opposite. Our investigations in the area, which began in 2017, were originally focused on the mill, taking into account its chronological and functional aspects. However, the possibility that this mansion had some degree of articulation, due to its proximity and architectural similarities, meant that the investigations also included this building. By virtue of this, in this paper we present the first data from the excavation of the house and its correlation with the excavations carried out in the Payogasta Flour Mill. The first results allow us to confirm that both were contemporaries, although the mansion would have been owned by social sectors linked to land ownership, while the owners of the mill were more closely related to the commercial sector of the town, which provided the service of the grinding. With this, it is not ruled out that in previous moments both have been part of the same Treasury, judging by the antecedents that exist for the region. Historic center of Payogasta the Flour Mill of Payogasta and the Casona de Enfrente, chronology log comparison archeology El casco histórico del pueblo de Payogasta (Cachi, provincia de Salta), ubicado en las proximidades de la margen derecha del río Calchaquí, fue el centro de las actividades sociales y económicas durante los siglos XIX y XX, antes de la construcción de la ruta nacional Nº 40. Se trata de un conjunto de construcciones, con variable grado de conservación, caracterizadas por una típica arquitectura colonial y postcolonial, entre los cuales se encuentra un molino hidráulico y una vieja casona, ubicada enfrente. Nuestras investigaciones en el área, iniciadas en el año 2017, estuvieron centradas originalmente en el molino, atendiendo a sus aspectos cronológicos y funcionales. No obstante, la posibilidad de que esta casona tuviera algún grado de articulación, por su cercanía y similitudes arquitectónicas, hizo que las pesquisas también incluyeran este edificio. En virtud de esto, en este trabajo presentamos los primeros datos procedentes de la excavación de la casona y su correlación con las excavaciones realizadas en el Molino Harinero de Payogasta. Los primeros resultados permiten confirmar que ambos fueron contemporáneos, si bien la casona habría sido propiedad de sectores sociales vinculados a la propiedad de la tierra, en tanto los dueños del molino estaban más bien relacionados al sector comercial del pueblo, que brindaba el servicio de la molienda. Con esto no se descarta que en momentos previos ambos hayan sido parte de la misma Hacienda, a juzgar por los antecedentes que hay para la región. O centro histórico da cidade de Payogasta (Cachi, província de Salta), localizado perto da margem direita do rio Calchaquí, foi o centro de atividades sociais e econômicas durante os séculos XIX e XX, antes da construção da rota Nacional Nº 40 .É um conjunto de construções, com grau de conservação variável, caracterizada por uma arquitectura tipicamente colonial e pós-colonial, entre as quais se destaca um moinho hidráulico e um antigo casarão, situados em frente. Nossas investigações na área, iniciadas em 2017, foram originalmente focadas na fábrica, levando em consideração seus aspectos cronológicos e funcionais. No entanto, a possibilidade de este palacete ter algum grau de articulação, devido à sua proximidade e semelhanças arquitetónicas, fez com que as investigações incluíssem também este edifício. Em virtude disso, neste artigo apresentamos os primeiros dados da escavação da casa e sua correlação com as escavações realizadas no Moinho de Farinha de Payogasta. Os primeiros resultados permitem confirmar que ambos eram contemporâneos, embora a mansão teria sido propriedade de setores sociais ligados à propriedade da terra, enquanto os donos do engenho eram mais ligados ao setor comercial da cidade, que prestava o serviço de a moagem. Com isso, não se descarta que em momentos anteriores ambos tenham feito parte da mesma Fazenda, a julgar pelos antecedentes que existem para a região.
