In practice, these policies often manifest as punitive and restrictive leading to frequent violations of migrants' human rights. This discussion examines the influence of Title 8 on Mexico's migration policies. Title 8, a U.S. policy, allows the Department of Homeland Security to enforce strict criminal penalties on migrants who attempt to cross the border illegally. As a result of these stringent measures, many migrants end up remaining in Mexico indefinitely, often in substandard conditions. The text concludes by emphasizing the importance of creating a bilateral agenda that respects human rights and promotes safe, orderly, and regulated migration, while prioritizing the dignity and well-being of migrants. En México, las políticas migratorias están organizadas en dos grandes dimensiones, una restrictiva y otra de derechos humanos. La primera se relaciona con la regulación y el control de los flujos migratorios y la segunda con el ejercicio de los derechos humanos, lo que incluye el proceso de integración de los migrantes a la sociedad receptora. Aunque, en los hechos, las políticas migratorias son punitivas y restrictivas contra los migrantes y en su ejecución se violan sus derechos humanos. Este texto aborda el impacto en la política migratoria de México del Título 8, una política que faculta al Departamento de Seguridad Nacional de Estados Unidos para imponer severas sanciones penales a los migrantes que intentan cruzar ilegalmente la frontera. Como resultado de estas estrictas medidas, muchos migrantes se ven obligados a permanecer en México durante un período indefinido, a menudo en condiciones precarias.
