Going for this vision, we resorted historical sources for we can introduce this, there are strong connections between a desolate Moçambique by wars and destruction and the literature disclosed for Mia Couto, particularly in “Terra Sonâmbula” (sleepwalking earth- translating for english) (1992). Taking the romance as an object of analysis, we can observe with notion accuracy of time and space which sets up the work scenario, proportioning main episodes that succeeded the narrative and then the effect which affect the characters as well as whole nation weakened by wars. Resumo: A literatura de Mia Couto transita em um espaço entre a tradição europeia e o saber local. Partindo dessa ótica, recorremos a fontes históricas para pudermos apresentar as fortes ligações existentes entre uma Moçambique desolada por guerras e destruições e a literatura difundida por Mia Couto, particularmente no romance Terra Sonâmbula (1992). Tomando o romance como objeto de análise, observaremos com exatidão a noção de tempo e espaço que configura o cenário da obra, viabilizando os principais episódios que sucedem a narrativa e o efeito de sentido que afeta as personagens, bem como toda uma nação fragilizada pela guerra.
