We traced – between the second half of 19th Century and the seventies of the 20th Century– two elements which are part of the hegemonic social order: peace and fear of otherness, which are currently reflected in a reiterative discourse which points fingers to national migrants residing in the city as responsible for certain “evils” in it. We identified the intellectuals of such social order to analyze how, by means of a number of social mechanisms, they reproduced these elements and operated in different events of historical local relevance, attaining the hegemony of the aforementioned elements throughout the period. . Presentamos los resultados de una investigación interdisciplinaria realizada en la ciudad de Querétaro, México, sobre el orden social y sus intelectuales. Nos dimos a la tarea de rastrear a través del tiempo a partir de la segunda mitad del siglo XIX y hasta la década de los setenta del siglo XX dos elementos integrantes que forman parte del orden social hegemónico: la paz y el temor a la otredad, que se reflejan actualmente en un discurso reiterado que señala al migrante nacional residente en la ciudad como responsable de ciertos “males” que le aquejan. Identificamos a los intelectuales de dicho orden y analizamos que, a través de ciertos mecanismos sociales, reprodujeron y operaron estos elementos en distintos acontecimientos de relevancia histórica local, logrando su hegemonía a través del tiempo.
