The process that ranges from the external deleveraging initiated by Néstor Kirchner and the return to the International Monetary Fund in the Alianza Cambiemos administration, the external debt has become a discursive element that exposes the complexity of the actors' positions. In this sense, the discursive presentations of the foreign debt are conceived as a mechanism for the construction of common meanings, representations, and historical belongings, as well as conceptions around foreign policy and the role of Argentina in the international scenario. En el presente trabajo se propone un análisis del discurso político de Cristina Fernández de Kirchner y Mauricio Macri en torno a la cuestión de la deuda externa. Específicamente, el proceso que abarca desde el desendeudamiento externo iniciado por Néstor Kirchner y la vuelta al Fondo Monetario Internacional en el gobierno de la Alianza Cambiemos, la deuda externa se ha transformado en un elemento discursivo que expone la complejidad de los posicionamientos de los actores. En este sentido, se concibe a las presentaciones discursivas de la deuda externa como un mecanismo de construcción de sentidos comunes, representaciones y pertenencias históricas, así como también de concepciones en torno a la política exterior y al rol de Argentina en el escenario internacional.
