It then addresses some personal contributions in order to enhance the descriptive and explanatory power of the theory, emphasizing the concept of double periphery and elaborating on the issue of issue linkage, which leads to the concept of perceived strategic value of peripheral countries. A un año del fallecimiento de Carlos Escudé, prolífico autor argentino y protagonista de sendos debates teóricos y prácticos sobre política exterior, el presente artículo, de carácter estrictamente teórico, aborda las principales críticas planteadas por la literatura académica a su teoría del Realismo Periférico, junto con algunas posibles respuestas a tales detracciones. A continuación, se abordan algunos aportes propios a fin de elevar el poder descriptivo y explicativo de la teoría, haciendo hincapié en el concepto de doble periferia y profundizando sobre la cuestión de vinculación de cuestiones, lo que lleva a abordar el concepto de valor estratégico percibido de los países periféricos.
