In this article we try to address this phenomenon paying attention to the case of the Province of Santa Fe through the approach of the “Mesa de Coordinación Institucional en Seguridad Local” program promoted by the Ministry of Security, giving an account of how this political device works in the different regions of the province and the considerations that the officials involved make in this regard. Also, we will give an account of the main objectives of the program and its possible horizons, bearing in mind the institutional reform in security that is being carried out in Santa Fe. En la Argentina, durante los últimos años, los gobiernos locales se han convertido en receptores de demandas relacionadas a la seguridad pública pese a no contar con facultades ni competencias para abordar directamente esta problemática. En el presente artículo procuramos abordar este fenómeno prestando atención al caso de la Provincia de Santa Fe mediante el abordaje del programa Mesa de Coordinación Institucional en Seguridad Local impulsada por el Ministerio de Seguridad, dando cuenta de cómo funciona la mesa en las distintas regiones de la provincia y de las consideraciones que los funcionarios involucrados realizan al respecto. A su vez, daremos cuenta de los objetivos principales del programa y de los posibles horizontes del mismo, teniendo en cuenta la reforma institucional en seguridad que busca llevarse adelante en Santa Fe.
