The histórical process of generalization of instrumental rationality implied a radical change in the relations between society and nature. The nature of having value in itself, became a mere means to serve the economic production and wealth generation. The language (arena of class struggle) did not come out unscathed from this process. On the contrary, the words refract and reflect this change in social reality. The natural heritage, the nature itself became a more productive factor, it became natural resources. Likewise, the resistance to power and the instrumentalization of nature contained in the words natural resource, is reflected and refracted by the words commons wells, in a context of social struggles for the appropriation, management and use of nature. En el presente trabajo nos proponemos poner de manifiesto que el término recurso natural, como cualquier producto ideológico, refracta y refleja una realidad que se encuentra más allá de su materialidad. El proceso histórico de generalización de la racionalidad instrumental implicó un cambio radical en las relaciones sociedad-naturaleza. Ésta última, de tener valor en si misma, pasó a ser un mero medio al servicio de la producción económica y la generación de riqueza. El lenguaje, como la arena de la lucha de clases, no salió indemne de este proceso. Por el contrario, las palabras empezaron a refractar y reflejar este cambio en la realidad social. El patrimonio natural, la naturaleza misma pasó a ser un factor productivo más y se convirtió en un conjunto de recursos naturales. Así mismo, la resistencia al poder y a la uniformización e instrumentalización de la naturaleza contenida en el termino recurso natural, es reflejada y refractada por el término bienes comunes naturales que surge en el contexto de luchas sociales por la apropiación, el manejo y el uso de la naturaleza.
