The priest Justino O´Farrell - a prominent figure in the experience of the National Chairs - will assume as dean auditor of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the so-called "National and Popular" University. The present work aims to contribute to a greater knowledge about what were the main measures carried out during his administration and in particular what were the transformations that occurred in the Career of Sociology. As a methodological strategy, various written sources are analyzed –mainly the resolutions of the dean of said faculty and the reform of the 1974 study plan– along with oral testimonies. En mayo de 1973 cuando el gobierno de Héctor Cámpora designa a Rodolfo Puiggrós como Rector interventor de la Universidad de Buenos Aires, una nueva reforma universitaria se puso en marcha bajo un clima de fuerte efervescencia política. El sacerdote Justino O´Farrell –figura destacada de la experiencia de las Cátedras Nacionales– asumirá como decano interventor de la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras de la denominada Universidad “Nacional y Popular”. El presente trabajo se propone contribuir a un mayor conocimiento acerca de cuáles fueron las principales medidas llevadas a cabo durante su gestión y en particular cuáles fueron las transformaciones que se dieron en la Carrera de Sociología. Como estrategia metodológica se analizan diversas fuentes escritas –principalmente las resoluciones del decanato de dicha facultad y la reforma del plan de estudio de 1974– junto con testimonios orales.
