description During the first decade of the XXIst century the Argentine crime novel reached an untold success in the book market. Indeed, during the period various texts related to the genre reached number one on the best-sellers lists (among them, the most sold Argentine novel of the decade, Las viudas de los jueves). This paper studies the changesin the Argentine history of the genre that made such a success possible and, conversely, the way in which that success can be considered a redefinition of genre boundaries.
