In this paper we will analyze the relationship between both books and their drawings, which in both cases they build and disseminate the Bahia’s imaginary, through the exaltation of popular culture, traditions and religion of Candomblé, applying artistic ideas that come from the new creativity avant-garde. En 1951 se publicó el libro Bahia. Imagens da Terra e do Povo de Odorico Tavares ilustrado con dibujos de Carybé. En 1977 se editará nuevamente Bahia de Todos os Santos de Jorge Amado con dibujos de Carlos Bastos, que sustituyen a los aparecidos en la primera edición del mismo libro, en 1945, realizados por Manuel Martins. En este trabajo analizaremos la relación que existe entre sendos libros y los dibujos, que en ambos casos construyen y divulgan el imaginario de Bahía a partir de la exaltación de la cultura popular, de las tradiciones y la religión del candomblé, aplicando ideas artísticas que provienen de la nueva creatividad de las vanguardias.
