description	This essay presents preliminary results of an ethnographic and descriptive research on the Mapuche statuary known as chemamüll together with the first record on its identification and its current territorial dispersio in the Araucania Region. This expression of material culture is related to the indigenous worldview, the history of the community lineage and the relationship between the world of the living and the dead. Historical and testimonial references of chemamüll and the results of the investigation are presented, revealing their most probable meaning in terms of the survival of chemamüll in the guillatue and eltún sacred ceremonial spaces. Their implications are raised in relation to their cultural heritage value associated with the resematization of these identity expressions as a symbol of adaptation and Mapuche resistance to change and modernity.
