On the one hand, it conducts a broad overview of the Latin American experience in science and technology policy. On the other hand, it reconstructs the trajectory of the MERCOSUR Specialized Meeting on Science and Technology (RECYT), taking as an informative source the minutes of its periodic meetings, from its creation in 1992 to its last meeting in 2021. This article also analyses the scientific production of MERCOSUR countries, in accordance with bibliometric sources that allow inferring different trends towards regional cooperation by the scientific communities of the aforementioned countries. Although linking causes and effects exceeds the purposes and possibilities of this article, its authors suggest lines of reflection and analysis that should be explored. En este artículo se analizan dos dimensiones referidas a la integración de la ciencia y la tecnología en el MERCOSUR. Por una parte, se hace una revisión a grandes rasgos de la experiencia latinoamericana en política científica y tecnológica. Por otra parte, se reconstruye la trayectoria de la Reunión Especializada de Ciencia y Tecnología (RECYT) del MERCOSUR tomando como fuente informativa las actas de sus reuniones periódicas, desde su creación en el año 1992 hasta su última reunión en 2021. Se analiza además la producción científica de los países del MERCOSUR a partir de fuentes bibliométricas que permiten inferir diferentes tendencias hacia la cooperación regional por parte de las comunidades científicas de los países del MERCOSUR. Vincular causas y efectos excede los propósitos y las posibilidades de este artículo, pero se sugieren líneas de reflexión y análisis que es conveniente explorar. Este artigo analisa duas dimensões relacionadas à integração da ciência e tecnologia no MERCOSUL. Por um lado, realiza um amplo panorama da experiência latino-americana em política de ciência e tecnologia. Por outro lado, reconstrói a trajetória da Reunião Especializada de Ciência e Tecnologia do MERCOSUL (RECYT), tomando como fonte informativa as atas de suas reuniões periódicas, desde sua criação em 1992 até sua última reunião em 2021. Este artigo também analisa a produção científica dos países do MERCOSUL, de acordo com fontes bibliométricas que permitem inferir diferentes tendências de cooperação regional por parte das comunidades científicas dos países mencionados. Embora vincular causas e efeitos ultrapasse os propósitos e possibilidades deste artigo, seus autores sugerem linhas de reflexão e análise que devem ser exploradas.
