The present article addresses a unique experience in the history of Archaeology and social sciences in Argentina: the first archaeological field experience in the Malvinas Islands by an interdisciplinary team including Argentine war veterans. In the framework of the project “The Face and Sap of the Malvinas War”, directed by Rosana Guber, which investigates the battles of Monte Longdon (11-12 June) and Monte Tumbledown (13-14 June) of the 1982 Malvinas War, archaeological survey and reconstruction of wartime actions were carried out in November 2023. Throughout the text, we will feature the challenge involved in developing logistical and methodological aspects to be carried out in a territory under sovereign dispute and under the control of British authorities. This includes prior preparation (background surveying, physical preparation, etc.), research design, adaptation of methodological resources, and their application in the field. |

El presente artículo aborda un acontecimiento inédita en la historia de la Arqueología y de las Ciencias Sociales argentinas: la primera experiencia de campo arqueológica en las Islas Malvinas por parte de un equipo interdisciplinario que también conforman veteranos de guerra argentinos. En el marco del proyecto “Los rostros y la savia de la guerra de Malvinas”, dirigido por la Dra. Rosana Guber, que investiga las batallas de Monte Longdon (11-12 de junio) y Monte Tumbledown (13-14 de junio) de la Guerra de Malvinas de 1982, en noviembre de 2023 se llevaron a cabo tareas de relevamiento arqueológico y reconstrucción de acciones de guerra. A lo largo del texto se caracterizará el desafío que implicó desarrollar aspectos logísticos y metodológicos a efectuarse en un territorio en disputa soberana y bajo control de autoridades británicas. Esto incluye la preparación previa (relevamiento de antecedentes, preparación física, etc.), el diseño de investigación, la adaptación de recursos metodológicos y su aplicación en campo. Este artigo trata de um acontecimento sem precedentes na história da arqueologia e das ciências sociais argentinas: a primeira experiência arqueológica de campo nas Ilhas Malvinas por uma equipa interdisciplinar que inclui também veteranos de guerra argentinos. No âmbito do projeto “Los rostros y la savia de la guerra de Malvinas”, dirigido pela Dra. Rosana Guber, que investiga as batalhas de Monte Longdon (11-12 de junho) e Monte Tumbledown (13-14 de junho) da Guerra das Malvinas de 1982, foram realizados levantamentos arqueológicos e reconstrução de acções de guerra em novembro de 2023. Ao longo do texto caracterizaremos o desafio que constitui o desenvolvimento dos aspectos logísticos e metodológicos a realizar num território em disputa soberana e sob o controlo das autoridades britânicas. Isto inclui a preparação prévia (pesquisa de antecedentes, preparação física, etc.), a conceção da investigação, a adaptação dos recursos metodológicos e a sua aplicação no terreno.
