In order to learn about different ways of inhabiting the city, the areas of greatest growth in the MMA during the first decades of the 21st century were established and the inhabitants of popular neighborhoods in each of these areas were approached. The theoretical perspectives of the social production of space, the right to the city, socio-spatial segregation, and daily urban mobility, allow for the complexity of traditional analyses of urban inequalities, satisfaction of needs, and quality of life. The results obtained present different aspects that affect the inhabitants of poor neighborhoods and the necessary intervention of urban policies to improve their living conditions.
