The purpose of this paper is to deepen a historiographic perspective, already begun by important historians such as Hilda Sábato, Ezequiel Gallo, Paula Bruno, Martín Castro, Félix Converso, Fernando Devoto, Gustavo Paz, Martha Philp, Javier Moyano, Alicia Servetto, among others, in order to visualize the scope and complexity of the actions taken by the political and intellectual leadership of the argentine oligarchic regime, with the object of shoring up an interpretation that allows to notice the process of centralization of the political power in an integral way related to the importance that, according to what Miguez stated (2012) that the provincial dominant groups assumed in that process, almost immediately after the Caseros battle. In this sense, in the present work, I want to collaborate with the intention of exceeding certain conceptual limits coming from the national historiography, that in some way, have reified the way of understanding the building of our Nation. Thus, Ramón J. Cárcano´s thought becomes a pertinent source of information as regards the way in which the political and literate elite "cordobesa", at the end of the XIX century and the beginning of the XX, understood the Nation conceptually. Along his work, it is possible to identify strong liberal nationalist prints through which the author states his support for the necessity of a lay central political power and with a striking modernizing spirit. |

Cárcano y la historicidad del régimen oligárquico De Goycoechea, Enrique Nación Unidad Modernidad Nation Unity Modernity The purpose of this paper is to deepen a historiographic perspective, already begun by important historians such as Hilda Sábato, Ezequiel Gallo, Paula Bruno, Martín Castro, Félix Converso, Fernando Devoto, Gustavo Paz, Martha Philp, Javier Moyano, Alicia Servetto, among others, in order to visualize the scope and complexity of the actions taken by the political and intellectual leadership of the argentine oligarchic regime, with the object of shoring up an interpretation that allows to notice the process of centralization of the political power in an integral way related to the importance that, according to what Miguez stated (2012) that the provincial dominant groups assumed in that process, almost immediately after the Caseros battle.
