Data were collected using validated scales from a sample of 324 psychologists and psychiatrists from Santa Fe. Correlational analyses indicate significant links between EBS, secure attachment and anxious attachment. Multiple linear regression analyses show that both explain 16% and 11% respectively of the variance in empathy burnout. Findings point out secure attachment as a protective factor against empathy burnout and highlight the psychosocial risk associated with anxious attachment in psychologists and psychiatrists. El impacto de los estilos de apego de los profesionales de salud mental sobre su propia vulnerabilidad psicosocial no ha sido exiguamente explorado en la literatura. Por tal motivo, la presente investigación se propuso analizar posibles vinculaciones entre tres estilos de apego adulto (seguro, ansioso y evitativo) y el síndrome de desgaste por empatía (SDE), entendido como riesgo psicosocial entre profesionales de salud mental. Sobre una muestra de 324 psicólogos y psiquiatras santafesinos se recolectaron datos mediante escalas validadas. Análisis correlacionales indican vinculaciones significativas entre SDE, apego seguro y apego ansioso. Análisis de regresión lineal múltiple muestran que ambos explican el 16% y 11% respectivamente de la varianza del desgaste por empatía. Los hallazgos señalan al apego seguro como factor protector frente al desgate por empatía, e iluminan el riesgo psicosocial que conlleva el apego ansioso en profesionales psicólogos y psiquiatras. Os dados foram coletados de uma amostra de 324 psicólogos e psiquiatras de Santa Fé por meio de escalas validadas. Análises correlacionais indicam ligações significativas entre SDE, apego seguro e apego ansioso. Análises de regressão linear múltipla mostram que ambas explicam 16% e 11%, respectivamente, da variância do desgaste por empatia. As descobertas apontam para o apego seguro como um fator de proteção contra o esgotamento da empatia e iluminam o risco psicossocial que o apego ansioso acarreta em psicólogos e psiquiatras.
