Considering that the early years of professional practice are crucial, it is essential to understand the career paths of FGM specialists during this stage. Objective: To describe the characteristics influencing employment placement of these specialists and suggest solutions to this resource crisis. Methodology: In-depth interviews were conducted with FGM residency graduates with over 5 years of practice who lived in Cordoba. Content analysis was performed to identify and understand the categories of analysis, using Atlas Ti software. Results: It was found that the social capital acquired during training was the most relevant factor to get a job. The reality of women is influenced by caregiving responsibilities they have at home. Consequences of the decentralization process were observed. Positive influences of public policies aimed at primary care were described. Conclusions: We believe the key lies in considering how to produce health taking into account the workforce available for this task.

Introducción: El Estado ha favorecido la  formación en medicina familiar y general (MFYG) para fortalecer el primer nivel de atención (PNA), pero la cantidad de cargos adjudicados no ha variado, y muchos egresados migran a otras especialidades. La escasa remuneración y prestigio han sido razones citadas. Teniendo en cuenta que los primeros años de ejercicio profesional son claves, conocer las trayectorias de los especialistas en MFYG en esa etapa es relevante. Objetivo: describir características que influyen en la inserción laboral de estos especialistas para proponer  soluciones a esta crisis de recursos. Metodología: se realizaron entrevistas en profundidad a egresados de residencias de MFYG de más 5 años de práctica, que residían en Córdoba.  Se analizó el contenido para identificar y comprender las categorías de análisis, con ayuda del  software Atlas Ti. Resultados: Se encontró que el capital social ganado durante la  formación fue lo más relevante para acceder a un trabajo. La realidad de las mujeres está condicionada a las tareas de cuidado que realizan en sus hogares. Se observan consecuencias del proceso de descentralización. Se describen influencias positivas de las políticas públicas orientadas al PNA. Conclusiones: Pensamos que la clave está en pensar una forma de producir salud teniendo en cuenta qué trabajadores que existen para esa tarea. Introdução: O Estado tem privilegiado a formação em medicina familiar e geral (MFYG) para fortalecer o primeiro nível de cuidados (PNA), mas o número de cargos concedidos não mudou, e muitos graduados migram para outras especialidades. Baixos salários e prestígio foram os motivos citados. Levando em conta que os primeiros anos de exercício profissional são fundamentais, é relevante conhecer as trajetórias dos especialistas do MFYG nessa fase. Objetivo: descrever características que influenciam a colocação desses especialistas para propor soluções para esta crise de recursos. Metodologia: foram realizadas entrevistas em profundidade com formados das residências MFYG com mais de 5 anos de prática, que residiam em Córdoba. O conteúdo foi analisado para identificação e compreensão das categorias de análise, com auxílio do software Atlas Ti. Resultados: Verificou-se que o capital social adquirido durante a formação foi o mais relevante para o acesso ao emprego. A realidade das mulheres é condicionada às tarefas de cuidado que desempenham em seus domicílios. Observam-se as consequências do processo de descentralização. São descritas influências positivas de políticas públicas voltadas para o PNA.
