description Introduction: Dental caries, tooth loss caused by caries and periodontal disease are considered one of the greatest health problems worldwide. It is considered to affect about 4 billion people according to the Global Burden of Disease 2010 Study. Objective: Identify the relationship between socioeconomic indices and oral health. Materials and Methods: It is an observational, descriptive, cross-sectional study. The database of the National Epidemiological Surveillance System (SINAVE) was used to carry out this study, it handles health data and some socioeconomic variables that were used to carry out this work. Results: In the model we found two statistically significant variables, the CPO index (p = 0.008, 95% CI (0.197-1.135)) and prevalence of dental caries (p = 0.016, 95% CI (-0.086 - -0.010)) with respect to the Human Development Index. Conclusion: The strong influence of social factors in the health-disease process of the oral cavity requires promotion and prevention actions not only at the health level.
