description Introduction: the intestinal microbiota is considered a new organ involved in the regulation of body weight and diseases associated with obesity. Several factors can affect the health of the host. Objective: to analyze the association between the factors that influence the development of the intestinal microbiota and the anthropometric nutritional status of children. Material and methods: descriptive and cross-sectional study. 84 medical records of children <6 years were included: route of birth, antibiotic intake, type of dairy diet and characteristics of the diet. Weight and height were recorded. Results: no association was found between the variables studied and the anthropometric nutritional status. There was association (p <0,005) in the time of duration of lactation, where lactation last longer, more overweight/obesity existed. Conclusion: before the epidemic of overweight/obesity, intervention on the factors involved in the development of intestinal microbiota is necessary.

Fac.
