The approach to the social question entered the agenda with the modernization of the State and the growth of the masses in the cities, which forced the formation of new experts for housing and urban public policies. New practices that implied the updating of public discourse to legitimize them socially and culturally, as well as to dispute within the professional field about their dominant senses and ways of relating to the State and political discussion. The work carries out a characterization of the main media that contributed to the discussion: Nuestra Arquitectura and the Revista and Boletin de la Sociedad Central de Arquitectos, going through various articles published that allow us to see how the discussion was configured and new places from which to build the role of male and female architects in public policies and the problems of social reality. El artículo recorre las revistas de arquitectura argentinas que, en el período de posguerra, aportaron a la construcción del debate en torno a la función social de los profesionales. El abordaje de la cuestión social entró en agenda con la modernización del Estado y el crecimiento de las masas en las ciudades que obligó a formar nuevos expertos para las políticas públicas habitacionales y urbanas. Nuevas prácticas que implicaron la reactualización del discurso público para legitimarlas social y culturalmente, a la vez que disputar, a lo interno del campo profesional, sus sentidos dominantes y formas de relacionarse con el Estado y la discusión política. El trabajo realiza una caracterización de los principales medios que aportaron a la discusión: Nuestra Arquitectura y la Revista y Boletín de la Sociedad Central de Arquitectos, recorriendo diversos artículos publicados, que permiten ver cómo se configuró la discusión y nuevos lugares desde donde construir el papel de los y las arquitectas en las políticas públicas y los problemas de la realidad social.
