That is, in the historiography of architecture, it is not easy to find that she built two of the first rationalist houses in Latin America –in 1927, in Mar del Plata, and in 1928, in Buenos Aires–; or that since the beginning of the magazine Sur de ella, she published articles by Walter Gropius and Alberto Prebisch. On the contrary, there is a tendency to disqualify it. For example, Bustillo himself refers to Ocampo as “a flirt who always got her way. This house looks like a maquette with giraffes, for that reason I did not sign it "and Ramón Gutiérrez also operates like this when talking about the project that Ocampo requests from Le Corbusier, calling it a" fickle client ". Victoria Ocampo es central para pensar la cultura argentina del siglo XX; y sin embargo, esta colocación en el campo intelectual nacional no ha evitado que su rol en el desarrollo de la arquitectura moderna en la Argentina haya sido extrañamente invisibilizado. En la historiografía de la arquitectura, suele omitirse –o mencionarse al pasar– que Victoria Ocampo construyó dos de las primeras casas racionalistas de Latinoamérica, en 1927, en Mar del Plata, y en 1928, en Buenos Aires; o que, desde el comienzo de su revista Sur, publicó artículos de los arquitectos Walter Gropius y de Alberto Prebisch. Al contrario, hay una tendencia a descalificarla. Por ejemplo, el propio Alejandro Bustillo se refiere a Ocampo como “una coqueta que siempre se salía con la suya. Esta casa parece una maquette con jirafas, por ese motivo no la firmé” y Ramón Gutiérrez al hablar sobre el proyecto que Ocampo solicita a Le Corbusier la llama “veleidosa comitente”. Este artículo propone revisar las omisiones y los usos léxicos alrededor de Victoria Ocampo en la historiografía de la arquitectura y leerlo en el marco de los estudios de género para comprender esta extraña invisibilización.
