But who is our Millet? A feminist who refused to read sexual passion in heterosexual terms, which allowed us the theoretical imagination to undo the obligatory ways of the norm. My Millett gave us the epistemological possibility, and which I think that was his most radical contribution, to ask the political question of sex. Is the sexual and emotional relationship between two people of heterogeneous sex-generic mark a form of hegemonic political organization? The epistemological effects of the question can range from the categories of women and men to the political function of sexual practices themselves, a range open to the dispute over the feminisms that have been arriving. Politics are disputed in widely shared narratives of the global entertainment industry, a place of constant interpellation on the affective norms of hegemonic sex and its possible fissures in the readings we make of those cultural objects. The extinction of Millett’s life promises us the bitter taste of a life embracing a feminist political bet of a brutal dissidence. We celebrate that drink, we always do. La trayectoria vital de Kate Millett nos proporciona el desafío de leerla o bien como una sufriente usuaria de litio, o como la feminista rencorosa porque no la llaman desde la academia estadounidense, o como la autora feminista definitiva de la opresión sexual de las mujeres, o como la artista hippie que subsistió y resistió incluso en contra del estado de New York. Pero nuestra Millett ¿quién es? Una feminista que se resistió a leer la pasión sexual en términos heterosexuales, que nos posibilitó la imaginación teórica para deshacer los caminos obligatorios de la norma. Mi Millett regaló la posibilidad epistemológica, y creo que ése fue su aporte más radical, de hacerle la pregunta política al sexo. ¿Es la relación sexual y emocional entre dos personas de marca sexo-genérica heterogénea una forma de organización política hegemónica? Los efectos epistemológicos de la pregunta pueden ir desde las categorías de mujer y hombre hasta la función política de las prácticas sexuales mismas, abanico abierto a la disputa de los feminismos que fueron llegando. Las políticas se disputan en las narraciones ampliamente compartidas de la industria del entretenimiento global, un lugar de interpelación constante sobre las normas afectivas del sexo hegemónico y sus posibles fisuras en las lecturas que hacemos de esos objetos culturales. La extinción de la vida de Millett nos promete el sabor amargo de una vida abrazando una apuesta política feminista de una brutal disidencia, celebramos ese trago, siempre.
