| Sumario: | Collaborating in a dossier entitled Foreign languages in the Argentinian Higher Education system: evolution, achievements, and challenges raises, in the first place, the need to take a diachronic look that enables us to give an account - albeit briefly - of the -early- insertion of living languages in the national university system. In a second moment, from a synchronous perspective located in the present, the focus will be on a central and specific problem that concerns foreign languages, linked to the concepts of capital and linguistic repertoires. To this end, we will turn to the results of an investigation carried out at the National University of Luján (UNLu). These concepts will allow us to account for the current state of foreign languages in our university, both in an institutional (linguistic capital) and an individual dimension (linguistic repertories). |
