From concepts by Calvet (2002, 2010), it was possible to think about this language policy within the cultural and State policy for the post-independence period of the Latin American nations from Spain. We note the role in the construction of national states and the alignment of the intellectual project of the author with the general project of the State. Este artigo resulta da tese de doutorado[i] e se propõe a refletir sobre a política linguística proposta por Andrés Bello em suas intervenções sobre a língua espanhola na América Latina, que vão desde a produção de conhecimento linguístico à implementação no sistema educativo. Mobilizando conceitos de Calvet (2002, 2010), pensamos essa política linguística no interior da política cultural e estatal para o período pós-independência das nações latino-americanas da Espanha. Constatamos o protagonismo do autor na construção dos Estados nacionais e o alinhamento do seu projeto intelectual ao projeto geral do Estado. Notas [i] Tese de Doutorado apresentada por Kelly Cristini Granzotto Werner ao PPG Letras UFSM – RS – BR, em 25 de janeiro de 2022, cujo título é “A noção de língua na Gramática Castellana (1847), de Andrés Bello: conjuntura histórica e política”, e orientada pela professora Eliana Rosa Sturza. A tese aborda a noção de língua na Gramática de la lengua castellana, destinada al uso de los americanos (1847), de Andrés Bello, a partir da perspectiva teórica da Semântica do Acontecimento (2002, 2018), desenvolvida pelo professor brasileiro Eduardo Guimarães.
