On this way to define itself as a nation capable of self-government without the intervention of other States, scientifically organized and led by the best exponents. The reform proposals focused on immigration, the application of policies for the protection of maternity and childhood, and solutions to what they called “the social problem”. Analyzing the basis of the scientific speech from the Cuban medical sector regarding the population, the present investigation has as an objective to provide theoretical tools that will contribute to the study of topics that conform the Cuban scientific speech. On this way the first steps were taken to conduct studies that contemplate the contributions and presence from this sector in the controversies from the republican intellectuality from1902 to 1930.
