This article aims to make a comparative study between the aesthetic conceptions of the Tarahumaran groups and the Jesuit missionaries as they could have been experienced up until the expulsion of the Company of Jesus from the New Spain and make a sketch of its impact on the contemporary musical practices of the rarámuri people. A la llegada de los jesuitas entre los siglos XVII y XVIII a lo que es hoy el noroeste de México, comenzó un proceso de intercambio cultural entre los misioneros y los diversos grupos indígenas que habitaban la región, el cual abarcó desde los oficios y los rituales hasta las manifestaciones artísticas. El presente artículo busca hacer un estudio comparativo entre las concepciones estéticas de los grupos tarahumaras y los misioneros jesuitas como pudieron experimentarse hasta la expulsión de la Compañía de Jesús de la Nueva España para esbozar su impacto en las prácticas musicales contemporáneas del pueblo rarámuri.
