This did not exclude the important theme of the paintings, a matter sensitive to the Jesuits, who sought to exalt the virtues of their saints and missionaries through representations that were placed in all their churches. In this work we review the vicissitudes and identification of this collection, composed of a dozen paintings and fifty portraits, analyzing in depth two emblematic works and adding as an appendix the works consigned in the inventory of 1767. Después de un siglo que los jesuitas llegaron a América, en el Colegio Máximo de la Provincia del Paraguay se comenzó a construir su actual iglesia. La ornamentación de la misma se llevó a cabo con todos los lineamientos que imponía el barroco. Con ello no se excluyó el importante tema de las pinturas, cuestión sensible a los jesuitas, quienes pretendían exaltar las virtudes de sus santos y misioneros a través de representaciones que colocaron en todas sus iglesias. En este trabajo reseñamos las vicisitudes e identificación de esta colección, compuesta por una decena de pinturas y medio centenar de retratos, analizando en profundidad dos obras emblemáticas y agregando como apéndice las obras consignadas en el inventario de 1767.
