This work is framed within the theological and evangelical project of the Society of Jesus, evidencing the Baroque theatricality represented by the global cuaternidad, in a symbolic and reiterated Jesuit iconography. La iglesia de los jesuitas en Córdoba fue depositaria de una importante suma de pinturas. Pocas han quedado luego del expolio que sufrió después de la expulsión. Una de las más significativas es la representación de San Ignacio, que se encuentra hoy, junto a otra de San Francisco de Borja, en la residencia de los jesuitas. Esta obra está encuadrada dentro del proyecto teológico y evangélico de la Compañía de Jesús, evidenciando la teatralidad barroca representada por la cuaternidad global, en una simbóli-ca y reiterada iconografía jesuítica.
